KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar on T
hursday inaugurated a cleanliness campaign in the city titled as ‘Hamara Karachi Programme’.
The campaign was launched in Shah Faisal Colony. Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) London activists also reached the scen
e and raised slogans in favour of their party chief.
However; no unpleasant incident occurred on the occasion. During a press conference, Akhtar vowed to wipe out ‘garbage’ from the provincial capital by en
d of 2017.
He also urged the women to participate in the campaign. MQM leader Farooq Sattar al
so began the campaign in Gulshan Iqbal – after sweeping the road with
a broom. He told the media persons that all the work will be done without any political influence.
