RAWALPINDI: At
least 1400 retired employees of M
unicipal Corporation and 600 male and female p
ensioners of district government have not been paid a single pie on account of p
ension for the last four months in Rawalpindi Division.
According to sources, the district government has given orders to stop the p
ension payments due to lack of funds.
The employees and p
ensioners have issued a strict warning to the authorities
to pay them their outstanding salaries otherwise they will stage protest in the offices of Mayor and Deputy Commissioner and their protest will continue unless arrangement are made for payment of p
ension to them.
The p
ensioners criticised the government by saying that they have served department and public for 30 to 35 years and now the M
unicipal Corporation and district government are not paying p
ension to them.
